The actual park that this area is named for is bordered by Virginia Avenue on the north, Downing Street on the west, Louisiana Avenue on the south and Franklin street on the east. It covers 165 acres and is one of the largest parks in Denver. The park contains 2 large lakes that are home to flocks of geese. You will also find a rec center, tennis courts, flower gardens, picnic areas and a playground. On a daily basis you will observe a variety of activities in the park, rollerbladers to runners, walkers, bikers, and picnickers – this park has long been a sanctuary for residents. Many people will tell you they can hop on their bike or walk to anywhere within the city and arrive in just a few minutes!

However the neighborhood continues to thrive and remains a highly desired place to live.

A special block in this lovely neighborhood, Old South Gaylord Street, is home to one-of-a-kind specialty shops, service businesses, restaurants and cafes. In the 1950’s this was a cable car turn-a-round hub.
